Two Teens, No Waiting, and Odds and Ends

While I generally keep this blog to the writing and the writing process, I need to recognize today in the world of my personal life.

I am now, officially, the parent of two teenagers.

My youngest is 13 today.

Blogging may be sporadic over the next few weeks, as we are in the final run up to his Bar Mitzvah. I am readying myself for the influx of friends and family from near and far, managing the last minute details, and talking my son down from the metaphorical tree in his pre-event freak out.

In the margins of life, I am working on 'The Between'. My crit workshop group just finished going through the first 50 pages and gave me some excellent structural suggestions, including new insights into the way the story opens. While I don't think that writing and editing at the same time is always productive, sometimes you just need to fix an early problem in order to keep the momentum going. So that's what I've been doing with the story this past week. So far, so good. Time to work forward now.

And a moment's pause for another *squee* moment on the road to publication: My agent has let me know that 4 houses have requested the manuscript for "HOMD". That's all I'm going to say for fear of jinxes. We writers are a superstitious lot. :)

addendum: And one more makes 5. :)
