When in doubt, submit. . .

I find it fascinating that submit has two meanings so suited to the publication process.

--to give over or yield to the power or authority of another (often used reflexively).
--to present for the approval, consideration, or decision of another or others: to submit a plan; to submit an application.

Vis a vis my blog post Monday, I decided to submit one of my short stories for consideration in an anthology. Before yesterday, I was stuck with the first definition of 'submit'--letting another assume power over me. While the second definition certainly includes that element (. . . decision of another. . .), the act of sending the story is an act of choice, of power.
