"MindBlind" completed!

First pass edit done, opening chapter reworked after being 'snarkified'.

It's a satisfying feeling. I'm not as giddy as when I'd completed "Wings," but a first book is like a first love.

"MindBlind" is a grittier and more tightly plotted story. I really enjoyed mapping this one out.

Next step--feedback from alpha readers. My crit group has been wonderful with chapter by chapter feedback, but the nature of that process doesn't allow for critique of the flow and pacing of the whole story.

I have 2 or 3 readers whom I trust to be utterly honest. I look forward to their comments and will incorporate their thoughts into the second pass edit.

Then it will be time to start the agent quest.

  1. Awesome! And other obligatory 80s terms of excitement!

Agreed with the Snark comments. So glad you re-did the opening. And, yes what you have is very commercial so keep honing it. I am particularly drawn in by the theme in relation to the society in which your character exists. So Miss Snark's comments were very relevant. To me, it's important to be aware of the issues Snark raises, then make a decision as to what really needs attention in terms of the intended market.

  3. Thanks, Julie--I expect regular updates on your progress!

mtv--thank you. I've also revamped the synopsis to deal with some of the issues Miss Snark and the Snarklings brought up. With a little luck, it's no longer 'beige'. :)

  4. Congrats, LJ. I heard something very positive from waywardclam that you posted on Dreamers. Which leads me to ... I forgot my password again at Wild (resetting it now), so until I have it again, this is the only way I have to let you know I'd be interested in that beta reader thingie you're requesting over there.

I enjoy both Koontz and Cook, and I am a fast reader. When I was doing a similar thing for Holly Lisle's Worldgates book, even though I was on the "slow turnaround" team, I got it finished and replied to in the "fast turnaround" team's timeframe. And besides, I've got this week off and need something to do besides move and fight infections. ;)
