"We're in deep shit, Izzi"

Understatement of the year.

I'm at 23K with MindBlind, and things are starting to really heat up for my main character, Isabel. She's a closet empath in a culture where empathy is considered a disease and forceably treated in childhood. Her older sister (successfully 'treated' as a child) is missing. Isabel's just discovered that her sister has been taken by the antagonist and is being used as an unwilling subject in a risky experiment to reverse the treatment to create a core of empaths under his control.

In order to save her sister, she'll have to ally herself with the physician who perfected the treatment and an extremist group of militant empaths who want to destroy the doctor and his work.

Yes, Izzi, you are in deep shit.

  1. Sometimes I wonder if we create characters so that we can beat up on people without feeling that guilty!

It does sound like deep shit. Neck deep.
