An Embarassment of (Creative) Riches

Getting back into MindBlind after a several month hiatus would have been enough. But the muse is being extremely generous with her favors and there's a YA horror/fantasy story I've started to write as well. If you had asked me last year whether or not I could tackle multiple projects, I would have said absolutely not. Now it feels natural to have two novels to shift between. They are very different in style, voice, story, and POV. It's actually a relief to have another story to turn to when I get stuck on one project.

We'll see how long it feels manageable. :) But for now, I have two on the table: MindBlind--my futuristic thriller, and The House of Many Doors--YA fantasy.

"Doors" is a first person project--quite a change from my third person stories. I've been researching the use of first person and the pitfalls make it a tricky task. However, that's what the story is calling for at the moment. It's also interesting in that I don't have an outline/timeline for this one. I'll follow the organic process for as long as it works and if it works. If not *shrugs* than that's what editing is all about.

  1. Hmm... do you suppose your muse would talk to mine? Mine's been less than generous for the past 8 months. I'm getting poetry but the fiction... not so much. *grumbles*

Still, congrats that things are going so well for you!
