These three short poems are my 'entries' in the Julain contest, posted here. A fun form, consisting of 3 lines in iambic pentameter, rhyme scheme abb, invented by Julie Carter.
I Was Never at Woodstock
I.
Comfort food--a box of mac and cheese
transports me back to avocado green
shag carpets, Eric Clapton, grass, and Cream.
II.
I was still a child in sixty-nine.
She swears she danced with flowers in her hair;
the grainy pictures prove that she was there.
III.
Our boys born only fifteen days apart,
we share a common future and the fear
that they will do what we did in those years.
