I started this WIP about 6 months ago or so, and then got sidetracked by life's chaotic events. Finally, 6 weeks after the fire, I have the drive and the concentration to get back to the writing. Fortunately, I had done a ton of brainstorming on this story with my husband shortly before thanksgiving, down to planning the major events and characters of the next 6 chapters. Even more fortunately, I had saved it to the story's wiki and tucked it carefully away in a dropbox folder.
My original name for this story was "Twisted," as it is a futuristic take on Oliver Twist. But I was never really satisfied with that title, even as a working title. So I started calling it the unnamed YA project. Not that *that* was any better. . .
Today, a new title came to me: Helix Unbound. Basic concept: Oliver Twist meets the X-Men in a world fragmented by a viral pandemic.
I'm so happy to be writing again.
Ooooh ... You know I don't read YA all that much, but I'd read that one.
