One of the things I love most about writing is the research a writer has the opportunity to do in the process of working on a novel.
My newest project is a return to medical thriller territory and I spent several happy hours yesterday researching:
sickle cell anemia
staph and strep bacterial infections
plasmids and bacterial gene transfer
mitochondrial function and diseases
I have a collection of great internet links and resources. Now I just need to put all the information into a cohesive whole, to fill in the blanks and make the premise believable, based on an extrapolation of current science.
It's so cool to be a writer!
