Sorry for my long absence, but I had the opportunity to run away from home for a week and accompany hubby on a trip to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
So I went.
LOL.
Yes, we had 'net access and I chose to take a break from responsibilities, including blogging, to walk the beach, hunt for shells, and stare out at the horizon.
It was a much needed vacation.
I did spend time every day on edits to "House of Many Doors" and am really pleased by the tightened manuscript. I also started the first draft of a new short story sparked by a random conversation with my husband in the Atlanta airport over lunch while waiting for our connection.
So far, so good.
If it pans out, I'll consider it for the next quarter's Writers of the Future entry. Short stories are definitely different animals than novels. I'm enjoying the process of writing them.
My teenagers survived the week without me, in the capable hands of our lovely graduate school student from Kyrgyzstan and a little 'tech support' from me on homework, courtesy of cell phone and email.
I'll try to post some beach pictures later in the week. But there's baseball on the TV and a mountain of laundry to catch up with.
